Building a Scalable Online Art Education Platform
Overview
The landscape of online art education has long struggled with accessibility—high costs and rigid academic structures prevent many aspiring artists from pursuing formal education. To bridge this gap, I worked on developing a comprehensive digital learning ecosystem that provided flexible, high-quality instruction at an affordable price point.
Initially envisioned as a single-course offering, this project quickly evolved into a multi-course online art education platform that empowered thousands of students to refine their craft, exhibit their work, and grow sustainable creative businesses.
Role & Key Contributions
Over the course of three years, I led the business and marketing strategy, curriculum development, website buildout, and ongoing marketing and management for the platform. My contributions included:
Curriculum Design & Course Development
Designed the course architecture, growing from a single foundational course to a structured 12-course catalog.
Developed a progressive learning model, starting with beginner acrylic painting fundamentals and advancing to specialized techniques (portrait, architecture, water, etc.).
Integrated business and marketing education for artists, equipping students with skills to monetize their work.
Digital Infrastructure & Content Delivery
Built the entire digital learning platform using Kajabi, leveraging its integrated CRM, email marketing, and content delivery tools.
Filmed, edited, and produced all course content, ensuring a seamless educational experience across video, PDF, and interactive formats.
Designed an engaging, student-centered experience, incorporating community support and live engagement opportunities to enhance learning.
Marketing & Growth Strategy
Launched the platform using a pre-sale strategy, offering lifetime access pricing to build an initial base of students.
Developed a highly effective lead generation tool—a 7-day painting bootcamp, providing free structured lessons, exercises, and a community component. This drove a major spike in enrollments and created a pipeline for long-term conversions.
Evolved pricing and packaging structures to allow for modular course purchases, increasing accessibility and maximizing revenue.
Implemented quarterly course launches, strategically expanding the course catalog to sustain momentum and drive ongoing sales opportunities.
